Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, little town that is a bit sleepy. The West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't heard of it often mistake it for a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is often known as the place where she was born. It is true that she resided there for a very short time. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. At the beginning of her life, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. When I outgrew my male companions, I quit. Former dancers often turn into acting. In the instance of Brugel,, it was an urging from her high school teacher of drama. One of her teachers suggested she take part in an audition for the annual school play. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the school's annual show. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years, the roles played by Brugel on television and the big screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel, the only Canadian on the season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
